The Board of Directors of the Lake Travis Tennis Association is instrumental in maintaining LTTA's commitment to promoting the social and health benefits of tennis and pickleball to youth and adults in the Lakeway, Bee Cave and Spicewood areas.

RICHARD EVANS

President

 

Richard serves as a volunteer on the United States Tennis Association National Advocacy Committee. He is a long-time resident of Lakeway resident, former president of the Men’s Tennis Association at the World of Tennis and active USTA league player. Richard is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and has worked in and around the Texas legislature as a staffer and governmental affairs consultant for 30 years. He is currently State Government Affairs Director for a major pharmaceutical company.

SARA WHITE

Vice President

Sara has spent much of her life giving back to the sport of tennis. She has served on USTA Texas committees for 22 years, acting as chair for multiple terms. In that capacity, she currently serves as the chair of the Texas Tennis and Education Foundation task force. She is in her third term on the board of directors for the Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame in Waco and also serves on the board of directors for the Lake Travis High School Tennis Team Booster Club. Sara has a BA in Communications from Southwestern University where she was a four-year letterman and captain of the women’s tennis team. She went on to a career in internet marketing, working with both businesses and non-profits.   

RICK RHODES

Treasurer

Rick is a native Texan and learned to play tennis under the guidance of teaching professional Tut Bartzen.  Rick played UIL tennis at Sweetwater High School.  He attended The University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor of Business degree. Rick recently retired after a 43-year business career. His career path included owner of a small business, banker, mortgage lender and 12 years as an employee with the State of Texas. Rick served four terms as Mayor of Sweetwater, Texas. Rick is an active member at the World of Tennis.

ALEX RE

Alex began playing tennis on recreational USTA leagues in Houston. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in Communications, she went on to work for St. Jude Children’s Hospital developing fundraising opportunities and Spanish language events across the country.Her interests in healthcare and fitness took her to MD Anderson Cancer Center where she managed integrative wellness programs for patients such as yoga, meditation, and nutrition support. Alex is grateful to be back in Austin, raising her 3 children and volunteering at her local elementary and middle schools. She looks forward to more opportunities to bring tennis to our youth in the Lake Travis community.

SAL VEGA

Sal served as Flatonia ISD’s Superintendent from 2009 until his retirement in 2012. Sal was a member of Texas Association of School Administrators, Texas Elementary Principal and Supervisor Association, National Association of Elementary School Administrators, National Association of School Superintendents, National Association of Bilingual Educators, Texas Association of Bilingual Educators and the National Council for Staff Development. 

Sal’s career in education spans 38 years as a bilingual kindergarten-5th grade teacher, junior high P.E. teacher, high school football/basketball coach, junior high social studies/language arts teacher, junior high assistant principal, elementary and junior high principal, Migrant Coordinator, and Superintendent of Schools.
