Lake Travis Tennis Association (LTTA) board member Kim Fox recently participated in the USTA Texas Coaching Mastery Series workshop, Making the Most of Junior Tennis Progression, held at RacFit in Buda.
The workshop brought together tennis professionals and coaches from across Texas to explore best practices for developing young players through the USTA’s Red, Orange, and Green Ball progression system. Designed to help coaches accelerate player development, the training focused on creating clear pathways for junior athletes while making tennis more engaging, successful, and enjoyable at every stage of learning.
Led by respected tennis professionals, the session provided practical drills, coaching strategies, and progression frameworks that coaches can immediately apply on the court. Participants learned how to use modified courts, equipment, and ball types to help players build confidence, improve technique, and develop tactical awareness more effectively than with traditional approaches.
Kim’s participation reflects LTTA’s commitment to ongoing education and professional development within the tennis community. As a longtime advocate for growing the game and creating positive tennis experiences, she continually seeks opportunities to learn from industry leaders and bring new ideas back to local players, parents, and coaches.
"Programs like this help ensure that young players are developing skills in a way that matches their age and ability level," said Kim. "The progression system gives kids the opportunity to experience success early, which helps build confidence and encourages them to stay involved in the sport."
The USTA Texas Coaching Mastery Series is designed to equip coaches with the latest teaching methodologies and player development strategies while fostering collaboration among tennis professionals throughout the state.
Through board members like Kim Fox, LTTA continues to strengthen its mission of promoting tennis opportunities, supporting player development, and helping grow the game in the Lake Travis community.
