New Players, New Energy in Lake Travis

May is National Tennis Month! It is the perfect time to pick up a racquet, try something new, and experience tennis in a fresh and welcoming way. LTTA brought that spirit to life by hosting an Adult Red Ball event on Sunday, May 3, at Legend Tennis Academy.
Originally introduced by the United States Tennis Association, Adult Red Ball is modeled after the junior development pathway and designed specifically for beginners. Using smaller racquets, low-compression balls, and a shorter court, the format makes the game instantly approachable.
The event brought players of all levels to the courts at Legend Tennis Academy—many picking up a racquet for the very first time—and within minutes, they were rallying, competing, and connecting. The energy was high, the atmosphere welcoming, and the format delivered exactly what it promises: a fun, social, and accessible introduction to the game.
We were proud to partner with Racquet Lifestyle to bring the event to life. Coaches Mitch and Krivo led participants through match play and games, keeping the action moving while offering encouragement and guidance. Their ability to seamlessly blend instruction with play created an experience that was both engaging and confidence-building for players of all levels.
LTTA extends its sincere thanks to Legend Tennis Academy for providing a fantastic venue for the afternoon. Events like this are only possible through strong community partnerships, and Legend’s support helped create an ideal setting for players to learn and connect.
Participants also had the chance to take home something special. Thanks to sponsor Le Courte, a limited selection of their designer totes were awarded to participants.
From first rallies to friendly matches, the Adult Red Ball event showcased how tennis can be adapted to welcome new players without losing the spirit of the game. As National Tennis Month continues, LTTA looks forward to building on this momentum and creating even more opportunities for the community to get out on the court.
